YESTERDAY’S CIVIL BUSINESS

(Before Mr R. S. Florance, S.M.) Judgment for plaintiffs by default was given as follows: Mach ell and Russell, butchers (Air T. A. Coleman) v. Martha Mackrell, £3 Is 4d (balance of claim) and costs ss: R. S. Caulton, -hotelkeeper (Air L. L. Hitchings) v. E. R. Broughton, Wellington, 17s (costs only) ; Adolphus Zaehariah, tailor (Air IT. Bright), v. Jack Ferris, Tokomarn Bay, £1 10s and costs 15s; Walter Howard, painter (Mr L. T. Burnard) v. David Gorman. £2 Gs 4d and costs 10s; John Monk, YVaimate, storekeeper (Air Hei) v. Pelvi Temple, Tolaga Bay, £1 Gs Gd and costs IDs; .IT. Gartshore, grocer (Mr R. U. Burke) v. Ala-f Olsen, Gisborne, groom, 15s and costs ss; same v. Judgment by consent was given in the case of Wnikcdui County County Council (Mr Bernard) v. Ha rata Ruatapa and other owners (Mr Hei) for £26 6s Id and costs (£3 35.) Judgment summons were adjudicated oil as below Theresa Jepson, boardinghouse-koopor v. Charles Cone, wharf laborer, order for immediate payment of £1 Bs, in default, throe days’ imprisonment; Grundy and Shennan (Mr Burke) v. Reginald Peachey Goodchap, order for immediate payment of £ls 15s sd, in default 16 days’ imprisonment. W.*J. Cox and Co., grocers (MiBright) claimed from John Arthur Hamilton, shipwright, the sum of £8 12s on a judgment summons. After. hearing evidence, His "Worship made an order for payment forthwith, the order to be suspended so long as the debtor liquidated the debt at the rate of 10s per week. Evidence having been taken in the case of Evans, Nield and Co- (Mr H. Etherington) v. Tamili Dennis (Mr Burnard), a claim tor £l3 11s 6d, His Worship made an order for the paymeat of the amount, ia default 14 days* imprisonment, the execution of the warrant to be suspended, conditional on debtor paying off 10s pei week.
