PERSONAL NOTES.

Air. D. J. Barry returned from Tokomaru Bay last eve mng. Air Harold E. Bright travelled South by the Alokoia last evening. Air J. F. Sheridan was a passenger for Sydney by Saturday’s steamer. Air "Williamson, of Gisborne, has purchased a. property at Tutaetoko. Air E. P. Joyce returned to Gisborne <yi Saturday after a tour of the North Island.

Dr. and Airs Scott went North by Saturday’s steamer.

Messrs E. J. Chrisp and E. C-hrisp left for Auckland on Saturday. The Alisses Lusk, daughters of Mr H. B. Lusk, of Napier, are on a visit to Gisborne. Sir James and Lady Carroll and Mr AVliare Carroll were ‘ passengers for Napier last night.

Messrs. A. R, Muir and B. Muir arrived in Gisborne last evening, after an extended torn- of the Homeland and America.

Captain Stringer, of the MarineDepartment, is at present in Napier in connection with the adjustment of cargoes for coastal vessels.

Dr. Brown has left for Dunedin on leave and will he absent for some weeks. Dr. Singer will act as hie locum tenons at the Hospital. Messrs J. W. Gordon, iS. Hutchinson, and N. McLean, have been reelected to the directorate of the Opotiki Co-operative Freezing Coy. Mr R. 'Fletcher, chairman of the Wellington Harbor Board, will retire from the position shortly, having occupied the post for the full term three years. ,

It is satisfactory to learn that the injuries sustained by Mr Jack Law, of the Bridge Hotel, ai’e not so serious as was anticipated and that, he will retain the sight of his eye. On Saturday, Mr Frank Lawton was married by Itev. L. Dawson Thomas to Miss Winifred Hyde, and the couple left later in the day for Auckland. The wedding breakfast was held at tho residence of the Mayor, Mr W. Pettie.

Our Auckland correspondent wires: A. unique function, probably the first of its kind in the Dominion, took place at the Star Hotel on Saturday afternoon when -mendjers- of the literary staff of the Brett Publishing Co. entertained one. of the proprietors, Mr T. W Leys, tho occasion marking Mr Leys’ entrance into his 50th year as a journalist. Mr Leys was presented with a handsomely-framed enlarged photo of the literary staffs of the “Star,” “Graphic,” ancl “Farmer.”
