MOTU MOVING.
SOME SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS. Evidence that the little inland township of Motu is moving ahead was offered at yesterday’s meeting of the Waikohu County Council. The Motu Settlers’ Association forwarded several resolutions, suggesting That the Council should erect and maintain two street lights in Motu township; That finger posts he placed at the corner of Neill and Motu roads, and at Bridge Street and Motu Road ; That, as the necessary guarantees, were forthcoming, the Council should put the footpath works in order. The Chairman : Te Ivaraka got street lamps and Motu, of course, wants them now.
Cr. Bridges said that the lamps were a necessity, particularly in the wet weather, when people had to go out in the evening and get mails. The Chairman of the Association had agreed to give a further lamp. He moved that the lamps bo granted and permission given to erect a third one, the Association to maintain the lamps and the Council supply the kerosene. Cr. Lewis seconded and the motion was carried.
Jt was stated that finger posts were ready to go up.
