BOY’S STRANGE DISAPPEARANCE.
[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, August 1. On Saturday morniim a boy named David Smith, 12 years of ago, left his home at 9 Upper Union street to attend early Mass at St. Patrick’s Church. Since then nothing more has been seen of the lad by his parents, who are disturbed and unable to account for his disappearance. It was reported by some schoolmates that lie had been seep in a Ponsonby tram bound to the city yesterday afternoon, but no confirmation of this can be obtained. . He has no relations in the city and his father and mother can suggest no place where he was likely to go for an indefinite visit. hoavT [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, August 1. A man named J. S. Sheldon, aged 45, was admitted to the Auckland hospital this morning in a very serious condition, an attempt having been made to cut an artery m the throat and also to sever the main artery in the arm. The man is a gumdigger and was brought down from Helensville. He is in a critical condition. No further particulars are available as to the circumstances.,
