LITTLE GIRL SAVED FROM STREET ACCIDENT.

Tlie plucky rescue of a wee girl was witnessed in Dominion Road on Monday morning, the rescuerer lining somewhat badly injured. | Nearing the corner of Valley Ro id i ' a tramcar and a gig, both coming j from town, were approach in g at a i good pace. A standing horse and | cart near the footpath hid from the | view of a- little girl of six the fast ; approaching car and gig, and step- | ping off the footpath she essayed to i cross the road and immediately found j herself almost in front of the ap- ; proaching dangerj A spectator of the little girl’s ditj emma was a young man, Mr S. F. i Bush. Quick to appreciate her danger ; and quite regardless of the risk be i ran, he sprang to the child’s assist--1 ance. Crossing the rails in front of ! J ,hc approaching car Mr Bush seized tlie child and had barely time to throw her clear of danger before be himself went down under the hoofs of the horse, which was being driven in tlie i gig. j He was struck by a shaft of tlie vehicle and while on the ground the edge of the wheels passed -over his body. . ! Fortunately it. was a very light con■j veyance or he would have probably [ been more seriously injured. I As it was he was picked up m a 1 semi-conscious condition and metrical i assistance had to be summoned. He j was attended to by Dr. Moir .and | found to be suffering from a dislocated i collar-bone and/ other injuries. 1 Mr Bush was conveyed to his homo : and will, the doctor says, be mcapac- ; itated for a month at least, i The little girl -escaped injury.
