A southerly gale set in late on Saturday night and increased to almost a hurricane a few hours later, and this continued till midnight on Sundav when the weather cleared considerably. _ The gale was accompanied by blinding squalls of hail and sleet, and the low-lying portions of the town were quic'k'lv Inundated.
