In -spite of Mr Bryan’s ovations it % generally accepted that the contest lies between Messrs” Wilson and Champ Clark. In the test roll-call Mr Wilson ljolled 048 and Mr Clark 4.38. Mr. 0. L. James, a friend of Mr Bryan’s, lias been elected chairman of the Convention.' Mr Bryan brought up a resolution opposing the nomination of any candidate representing or under .obligations to Mr Pierpont Morgan, Air Thomas Ryan, Air August Belmont or other members of the privilege-hunting or favor-seeking classes. Messrs Belmont and Ryan are delegates to the Convention and a violent scene greeted the resolution, which was, however, carried by a large majority.
The police were unable to maintain order in the crowded galleries. The Convention adopted a platform which included lowering the tariff in favor of Canadian products, and the encouragement of United States -farmers with a view to preventing their emigrating Canada-wards-
The Convention adjourned late at night, postponing the vote on the nomination of the Presidential candidate.
