.. NELSON CITY ENGINEER. [PER PREBS ASSOCIATION.} NELSON, August 11. Mr. J. G. Littlejohn, engineer to the Waimea County Council, has been appointed city engineer. There were eighteen applications from various parts of the Dominion. BOOKMAKERS HEAVILY FINED. AUCKLAND, August 11. At the Police Court to-day, Jesse Lynn Cotton and William Gray were each fined £4O for having plied tne uafling of bookmaker. Edward Chitham and John Surtes for a similar offence were each fined £3O.
