- - MATAWHERO STOCK SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., report on the stock sal© held Thursday, 10th inst. as fellows: There was a fair average yarding of both sheep and cattle, and most lines were quitted either under the hammer or immediately thereafter. Sheep.—We offered 881 and sold 821. Hoggets and wethers were in good demand. We had no ewes in lamb on otfer. The following are the quotations • Empty ewes 9s 6d to 10s, fat ewes light weights 11s, medium 12s 3d to 13s, while for one line of very heavy fat ewes we made 15s. Wethers.—Medium lines realised 13s 3d to 13s 6d, hoggets small to medium 9s to 10s. Cattle. —We yarded 151 and sold 111. Tffe lines being Ismail, in some instances the competition was not keen, and dealing had to be done after the sale. Fat cows, light weights, £3 15s to £4 ss, medium £4 12s 6d to £5, well-finished cows £5 12s 6d. t Herd cows made £2 15s to £3' 15s, according to quality and condition, dairy cows £4 12s 6d. Dairy heifers £4 for backward up to £7 7s 6d for good-look-ing heifers close to profit. Two-year-old herd heifers £3 15s, 18-month'*£3 2s 6d, yearlings £2 12s, 2-year-old steers £4 ss. Pigs were a very small entry. Porkers made 23s to 28s.
