WANGANUI EMPLOYERS’ ASSO- a CIATION. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.! WANGANUI, March 31. Mr W. Pryor, secretary of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation has been in Wanganui for a few days, and as a result of his visit a large increase in the membership of the local Employers’ Association has been secured.

THE MINISTER FOR LANDS. The Hon. Thomas Mackenzie arrives in the morning. He will open the new addition to the new Cosmopolitan Club during the afternoon and attend a banquet in the evening. TIMARU HARBOUR. BOARD. TIMARU, March 31. The Harbour Board to-day (its last meeting) decided to recommend the incoming Board to procure an up-to-date tug. preferably to order. The Chairman (Mr Oraigie. M.P.) hoped it would be built in New Zealand, if possible. The overtime nay of men employed in mooring and unmooring vessels was raised from Is 6d to 2s 6d per hour. .

The Customs revenue for the financial year was £54,079, an increase of £8139 on that qf last year, the previous record.

THE OTAGO RED DEER HERD. DUNEDIN, March 31. At a meeting of the Council of the Acclimatisation Society to-day a complaint was made regarding the treatment of the Society by the Government with reference to the red doer herd. It was stated that the Government had gone against the Society at every point. It was decided that an application be made to the Government for a subsidy of £ for £ on the expenditure on the red deer forest and in the event of the application being refused, that the Society seriously fvnsider the question of the further niengagement of the herd.
