REMARKABLE' CASE AT BENDIGO. Remarkable evidence was given at tlie Bendigo Police Court on March. 21, when Parget Singh, a Hindoo, was charged with threatening to “rip up” Constable Howe with a knife. It was stated that the constable went to quell’ a disturbance at a house occupied by Hindoos and two English women, mother and daughter, and the latter’s two children. The younger woman, it is said, had! been sold when she was 14 to Parget Singh, who married her, but afterwards sold her to another Hindoo. by whom she had two children. Tlie girl’s mother was now living with Singh. Defendant was fined 40s, with costs.
