DEATH IN THE MILK-CAN.

A NEAV ERA COMING. On and after the first of March those who are engaged in the supply of milk for litvnan consumption will have to -be a great deal more.c-ieiiily than the majority,.of,.mUknSen have been in tlfe past. ’The N.Z. Times says: Quite a number of the flagrant abuses that wore exposed ixi a seines of articles by a member of this staff a few weeks ago will be rendered impossible of continuance under the regulations which have just been approved bv the Governor-in-Council, and will come into f-orce next month. NO CANE ON THE FOOTPATH. •These regulations, which apply only to milk sold or offered for human consumption, make it illegal to place oil a public foot-path or pavement any milk or any cans or utensils used for the carriage of milk. No milk must be mixed or manipulated, and no cans must be cleaned or rinsed except- in a properly constructed building. Moro drastic than ever! No person shall be allowed to carry milk in a cart that is used ior the carriage of manure or other substances likely to cause injury to the milk. Moreover, all carts used for the carriage of milk must be washed clean every day. No preservative must be nut into milk. KEEP AAA'AY FROM THE SUN. Milk must not be held in vessels, dippers or measures the substance or construction of which is likely to contaminate it, and must not be exposed tor sale except in vessels so covered as to prevent the possibility of contamination. All nulk, unless in the actual process of conveyance, must be stored out of the direct rays of the sun. All milk for transit must be scaled or locked during transit by boat or nil. PREMISES AND PERSONS Any person suffering from an infectious desca.se, whether notifiable by law or not. is forbidden to have anything to da with the conveyance, treatment or sale of milk. As for premises , no kitchen or living or h:aping room, or room opening direct!y off a, sleeping room, may be used cs a wlk store or shop. G) milk simp must be used for tho ale of any article likely to eontain't ato nulk, and all milk shops must c kept in such a state of cleanliness ’•s will prevent contamination.
