BRITISH BYE-ELECTION.
United Press Association—Copyright (Received Sept. 29, -1.35 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 28. The bye-election for the lvirkdale division of Liverpool, vacant through ( tlie death of Mr. D. Mueiver, resulted in the return of Mr. Charles Macartluir, Unionist, who polled 4000 against Mr. John Hill. Labor representative's 3230. The Liberal Exeutive wore unable officially to support Air. Hill owing to his socialistic views, but passed a resolution expressing the hope that tho Liberal electors would support him.
[From 1885 to 1900 the seat was held by a Conservative. Tho late member, who was a Unionist, defeated a Labor candidate at last election by 592 votes.]
