Drunkenness. —John Richard Cundy was charged with having been found drunk, and was convicted and fined the sum of 10s, costs 2s, in default 48 hours’ imprisonment. Thomas Kaimoui was charged with drunkenness at Te Karaka. Accused pleaded guilty and was convicted and fined the sum of ss, costs 2s, iu default 24 hours’ imprisonment. AVilful Destruction of Property—On a further charge of breaking a door, valued at' ss, the property of Burgess Bros., Kaimoui stated that he had broken the door accidentally, A fine of 10s was imposed, costs 19s Bd, in default two days’ imprisonment. Breach of County Bye-laws.—Rich-ard John Scragg was charged with having driven a two-wheeled, dray, without springs, having tyres of a width of loss than 4 inches, drawn by 3 horses along the AA’ainui road. Mr. Stock represented the County Council and Mr'.'. T. A. Coleman appeared for the defendant, who pleaded guilty. Mr. Coleman, in detailing the circumstances, stated that the defendant, who was working for Mr. Habgood, was on his way tio Pouawa to do some work, and had nothing but horse-feed on the dray. Counsel, continuing said that Mr. Habgood was of the opinion that since tho by-law had come into force the roads had been gradually getting worse. Defendant was fined £l, costs £1 2s 6d. —John Harvey was charged with driving a two-wheeled dray, drawn by four horses, and having tyres of less than 5 inches in width. Mr. Stock, who appeared for the County Council, pointed out to His AVorship that with the costs on such a small scale, the County Council would lose on such casos. His AVorship said he thought that in these undefended cases tho Council should prepare their own charges. Mr. Stock replied that the difficulty of tbo position was that tlio County Council did not “know whon a caso was to be defended. Prohibition Order.—A prohibition order was granted, oil the application of his wife, against Frederick AVeston.
