SHEEP DOG TRIALS.
Tho Poverty Bay Sheep Dog Trials were oonlinued at Ormond yesterday in splendid weather. The olass was a straight huDt* away to a flag about a quarter of a mile away. The time was 12 minutes, and the points were: Huntaway 10, style 5, noise 10, command 10. A epeoial prize waß offered for the noisiest dog in this olass. Mr E. S eggall’a Monk secured first honors with full marks, Mr 0. Evans’ BlaokbeiDg second half a point lower, also winning Messrs Shierhw and Co.’s speoial prize for i noise. Mr B. S ewart’s Chum scoured third plaoe with 84 points, losing one point for style. The other prize-winners were : E. Bartlett’s Bae, 32, 4th; B. Stewart's Tyke, 31, sth; E. Bartlett’s Ned, 29, 6th. AmoDgst the other competitors were: J. Herbert’s Don 28}, B. Stewart’s Dick 28, E. McDonald’s Datkie 27}, E. Tate’s Tweed 27, W. Moore’s Fly 26, E. MoEen* zie’s Bess 25, E W. Bousfield’s Spark 24, I A. Anderson’s Tweed 23, F. Cook’s Lass 20, E. MoEenzie’s Dick 19.
The sheep used durirg the trials were a
mob of strong two-tooth Bomney wethers, kindly lent by the manager of the Waikohu station,
The trials will be concluded to-day.
