The oity financial year shows the receipts on general account amounted to £241,224, and the expenditure £229,463, the balance being £11,761. The tramway income for the year was £83,225, and working expenses £58,429. After providing for interest, sinking fund, and depre ciat’on the profit amounted to £6700. Tbe City Council has decided to recommend the ratepayers to expend £7OOO in completion of the Kelburne Park for recreation purposes. In the Appeal Coutt, io the case of the Bank of New Zealand and Ewing versus tbe Scandinavian Water Race Company, argued on Tuesday, on a motion by the Bank for the Court to declare tbe Bank entitled to prosecute the appeal in its own name in the oase against respondents, the Court held that it had power to allow the motion, end would be doing justioo to allow it. The motion was allowed, and the question of costs deferred until the appeal was heard.
Jacob Steven?, master of the s.?. Ngunguru, was fined in the Magistrate’s Court to-day £5 on each of two charges of takiDg seamen into his service without, having them signed on the articles. Thomas Henry Goodg;r was charged at the Police Court to-day with seriously woundiDg John Prestidge. It is alleged the parties had a equabble last night, BDd Prestidge received two wounds under the left arm. Accused was remanded until Monday.
