Lingard had reported that the expedition was com pletely successful. The Government had stopped a more expensive expedition against the Munshis, which had been in complete readiness to despatch, but it was now unnecessary. Mr R. Laidlaw gave notice to move that Mr Asquith grant a substantia! rebate on incomes which residents of the United Kingdom derived from trade end commerce with the colonics and dependencies, when the incomes already paid tax in the country of origin. Lord de Ramsay gave notice to terminate the tenancies of one thousand allotment holders on his Huntingdon estate, alleging that the existing provisions had not given satisfaction, and led to grave misstatements and insinuations over the ren’iDg. - The action of Mr Bryce in re-appoint ing nineteen assiaten 1 land commissioner! out of 27 has incensed Nationalists and disappointed the Irish party.
