Ho thought ho had been entombed a week. Ho lived on coffee and brandy and water, aoda little broad found on tho bodies of tho dead. He suffered terribly from cold, though ho wrapped himself in clothes removed from the dead.
He vainly tried to find an axe to commit suicide when hope was abandoned. Ho wandered extensively about the mine, but discovered dodo alive. Crowds of women at the pit’s mouth menaced the engin'ors, accusing them of cowardice.
