MUNICIPAL BAKERIES.
Per Press Association. Christchurch, last night. A public meeting, attended by about 40 persons, held at Lyttelton last night, passed a motion in favor of tho establishment of a municipal bakery. Strong complaints were made against the price at present charged for bread. Tho Mayor said that the Council had no power under the existing law to establish a bakery. The mover of the resolution read a letter from Mr Lauronson, M.H.R., that he would have much pleasure in recommending the Government to amend the Municipal Corporations Act, so as to onsille boroughs to establish bakeries. The Mayor said he would seo that the resolution v/as laid before the Borough Council and the Member for Lyttelton.
