HARBOR ELECTION

(To the Editor Gisborne Times.) oil-,—Tho public arc entitled to hear tho opinion of thoso who are standing for Harbor Board honors. It is just and proper that voters should know why they voted for this or the other candidate, ihe candidates should hold a public meeting and be able to give their opinions of works which aroin progtoss—such as slip, the continuance of tho groin, dredging, and the manner iu which the rock is being rouioved. Whether they are in favor of a Harbor of refuge, and if tho balanco of the present loan should not be held an instalment of a new loan for that purpose. —I am, etc., A. Boss.

.Sir —Now that the Harbor Board election is so near at hand, would it be-out of place to ask when the Board expect to have the dock finished . 1 am pot asking this question out oi anv cavilling spirit, nor have I any pretensions of being an engmeei, amaIcur or otherwise. T lie fact is that, i have hud my curiosity excited by • t ll that 1 have heard, ami m> desue is to see the work finished, so that l pretend to have some opinion on M |lien. 1 am very tired ol always l.vhr to listen to the many critipassed upon the harbor works generally by .people who arc as ignm•mt on the subject as myself. Bull would like to hear when the dock or slip will he finished, as I have been witching it from month to month, and still it drags wearily along in a slow, but I hope sure, fashion. etc., ‘
