AN OBSTINATE COUNCIL. 8y Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. Tho Stratford District Health Officer to day interviewed tho County Council, endeavoring to arrange with the Council to join tho other Taranaki local bodies to appoint a sanitary inspector for the district. Tho Council declined to contributo a quota of £57 per annum. All tho other bodies favor the proposal. ABATTOIRS. A loan of £SOOO for abattoirs, rejected by the ratepayers, will bo raised by tho City Council.
