BOROUGH RATES STRUCK

The customary motion striking the consolidated rate for the year 1950-51 was passed by the Gisborne Borough Council last night. The levies over the various defined portions of the borough are payable in one instalment on July 26. For the Gisborne, Kaiti, and Whataupoko areas a rate of Is 8d and 1 —64th of Id in the £ was approved, for the Te Hapara area the same, for outer Kaiti Is 6d 10-64th of Id, for Mangapapa Is 6d 50-64ths of a Id, and Upper Fox Street Is Bd. The general rate in each suburb amounts to lOd and l-64th of Id, the hospital rate 2d and 46-G4ths of a Id and the catchment rate 38-64tlis of Id, the balance being made up by securing special rates. The council approved of an additional charge bv 10 per cent, on all rates for the year unpaid after February 12, 19d1.
