Shearers To Get £2-19-6 Per 100 In Coming Season
HASTINGS, July 25.
New rates of pay for shearers and shed hands for the 1950-51 season have been announced. These are based on the average prices for greasy wool realised at the New Zealand sales during the past season. The following are the new rates with those set out in the award last year in parentheses:— Machine Shearing.—Not less than £2 19s Gd (£2 6s 6cl) a 100 with rations; lambs. £2 19s Gd (£2 6s 6d) a .100 with rations.
Hand Shearing.—£3 2s (£2 9s) a 100 with rations.
There is no alteration in the allowance of Gs a day to be paid where shearers find themselves in rations. Minimum rates of pay for other workers are: Prossers, 4s 10Jd an hour (3s 9',d): shed hands, 4s Btd an hour (,3s 7sd): cooks for J2 persons or under, £lO 10s lid a week or £1 13s 9d a day (£8 10s 4d) or £1 7s 3d), with an increase of 3s a week for each additional person up to 18 as applied last year: cooks' assistants. £8 Is Gd a week or £1 5s a dav (£6 14s 5d or £1 Is Gd). Other clauses of the award arc unchanged.
