Canadian Preparedness In Event Of War

(11 a.m.) OTTAWA. June 23. The Canadian Government has announced that it has begun advance preparations for producing and stockpiling critical war supplies in the event of an emergency. The Trade Minister, Mr. C. D. Howe, said that plans would tell Canadian manufacturers “what and how much it might be necessary for them to make, if trouble comes.” Mr. Howe said that defence officials would confer with Major-General B. B. Howard, general manager of the Canadian Industrial Preparedness Association, to make further plans for the production of war supplies.
