DOMINION BOWLS CONFERENCEOPENS WEDNESDAY NEXT

Delegates to the annual council of the New Zealand Bowling Association, which is to open at Wellington on Wednesday next, will be faced with a fairly formidab’e agenda including a revision of the association constitution.

Among the delegates will be Mr. E. E. Somervell, representing jointly the Gisborne-East Coast and the Bay of Plenty centres, who will leave Gisborne on Mondav morning for the conference centre. Business sessions of the council will be held in the board room at St. George Hotel Discussions on the constitution of the association will be held at a special session scheduled for Wednesday morning. The proposed new constitution will be submitted on behalf of the council, and will be considered in conjunction with propositions put forward bv Messrs. P. O. Skoglund. Palmerston North, and D. J. Simpson, Dunedin, for certain alterations to the rules.

Mr. Skoglund has given notice of motion to provide for North and South Island tournaments, these fixtures to be sponsored by centres or groups of centres with the annrov'al of the council. They will furnish opportunities for first-class play for bowlers who are unable to travel to the national championship centre in any year. Mr. Simpson's notice of motion covers a number of existing rules, and is less concentrated than Mr. Skoglund’s.

Deliberations at later sessions of the conference are likelv to be governed to some extent by the fate of the respective motions of which notice has been given.
