The Dunedin Jockey Club opened its winter meeting on Saturday in fine but cold weather before a good attendance. The track provided first class going. The double was won by the stablemates Western Front and Gold King, both owned by Mr. G. J. Barton and trained by J. W. Pankhurst at Wingatui. The winning combination returned £69 12s. The totalisator handled £76,132, including £7580 on the doubles totalisator as against £68,322 last year.
