RED TERRORISTS KILL FIVE IN MALAYA AMBUSH
(11 a.m.) SINGAPORE, March 31. Five members of the security, forces were killed today in'an ambush in the Bahau area of the Negri Sembilan State when terrorists employed electricallydetonated roadside bombs. Those killed comprised three troops of Green Howards regiment and two policemen. Two others—a Green Howards soldier and a European assistant estate manager—were wounded. The whole of Kelantan State in North Malaya, with a population of about 500,000, has been declared a controlled area in which foodstuffs cannot be moved at night. It was in the Gaumusang area of Kelantan that the terrorists killed 18 members of the security forces in an ambush last Saturday and themselves lost 25 to 30 persons. In half a dozen incidents yesterday and today in the Opoh area of Perak, the terrorists robbed over 500 civilians of their identity cards. The terrorists have been concentrating in recent weeks on stealing these cards which are used by them to aid their own movements.
