MANDALAY ROAD REOPENED BY BURMA TROOPS
RANGOON, March 30. Burmese Government troops have reopened the road to Mandalay by the recapture of Pyinmana. It is announced that this has also resulted in the clearing of the Central Burma area. It Will be some time before rail services to Rangoon can be resumed because the track and bridges are damaged in many places. Martial law is to be extended to Pyinmana area for “speedy restoration” of law and order.
