French Isle Becomes “World Territory”

PARIS, March 30.

The people of Sein, a tiny stormswept island off the coast of Brittany, have declared their one mile by half a mile home “world territory.” The new declaration, signed by the Mayor and councillors on behalf of the Sopulation of 1328, enrols all islanders 1 the register of world citizens started by the former American airman, Garry Davis. The islanders thus support the project of a world Parliament with one member for each 1,000,000 inhabitants of the earth.

The declaration said: “While declaring our island is symbolically world territory, we renounce nothing of our attachment to our native France. The security and well-being of our population are linked with the security and well-being of all towns and communes of the world today threatened with destruction by total war. Therefore, we invite all cities and towns, great and small, to follow this example.”
