BRITAIN LEADS U.S. IN ATOM BOMB CIVILIAN DEFENCE

WASHINGTON, March 17. Britain’s civil defence precautions against atomic warfare were more advanced than those of the United States, said Senator Brien McMahon, chairman of the Congressional Atomic Energy Committee, today after tne committee heard the views of experts at a closed meeting. A three-nation atomic energy conference will begin next Wednesday at Chalk River, Ontario. The United Siates Atomic Energy Commission announced that representatives from ten atomic energy centres in the United States will meet in closed session with representatives of the British and Canadian projects to discuss problems connected with measuring atomic radiations.
