NEW YORK, Jan. 15.

“The Nationalist defeats in China were the direct result of the stand taken by pro-Communist American diplomats in 1944,” said Major-General Patrick Hurley, former United States Ambassador to China, in a television programme.

General Hurley, who was answering questions, said that during his service as ambassador in China he discovered certain diplomats were advocating military aid to the Chinese Communists. “The pro-Communists in the State Department are reaping the whirlwind,” he declared. “They thought they couid do business with the Communists, but today—woefullv late —they are learning the contrary.”
