SETTLERS COMPLAIN OF STATE OF MOTU HIGHWAY
The Waikohu County Council's attention to metalling work which had recently been carried out on the Motu front highway, which they described as rough, was drawn in a letter from residents of the Whakarau district to the council yesterday. The engineer, Mr. S. R. Currie, said that this roughness had been caused by the dry weather, there having been insufficient rain to bind the metal. It would be necessary in future to use a roller. The council left it to the engineer to take what steps were necessary to improve the state of the highway.
