TWO BOYS SPEND NIGHT IN BUSH ON MOUNT EGMONT

(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 16. Unconcerned but hungry after a night spent in the bush on Mount Egmont, Nelson Hayman, aged 14, of New Plymouth and Wayne Parsons, aged six, of Inglewood, walked out at 8.55 a.m. yesterday. Searchers were out until late on Sa*u”dav night and another party, subsequently recalled by signals from an aircraft, set out early yesterday morning. Accompanying Clifford Schimanski, aged 17 and George Robinson, aged 18, who intended to shoot goats, Hayman and Parsons entered the reserve on Saturday. They became tired, with the result that at about 2.30 p.m. the bigger boys went on, after telling their companions to stay where they were until the others returned. When Schimanski and Robinson arrived at the spot at 3.15 p.m. oil their way out of the bush there was no sign of the younger boys and it was concluded that they had walked home. The alarm was given as soon as it was found the two had not reported. Hayman and Parsons are none the worse for their experience. They slept the night in the bush. Awaking at daylight, they found that they were near a river and proceeded to follow it downstream until they came out of the bush.
