Crisis May Demand All-Party Govt., Says Bishop
(11 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 21. The national crisis might, before long, force the adoption of an all-party Government, said the Bishop of Lichfield, Dr. E. $. Woods, at his diocesan conference at Stafford today.
He added that statements by some members of the present Government
had caused unwanted and un-English class feeling and class division. Such speeches had seriously lowered the dignity of public life. In such testing days, stronger national unity was imperative in view of the welfare of the State “for which Britain had hardly been ready.” There should be great care that file big increase of Government control over citizens’ lives did not sap the in* stincts of initiative and responsibility.
