Revival Of Nazi Press Will Be Barred
BERLIN, Sept. 2
The three Western High Commissioners today threatened action to combat the rc-emergence of Nazi-sponsored newspapers throughout the Trizone. They approved, in principle, a new and potent draft law dealing with press and radio information and entertainment. An official statement describing the law slated that if the German Federal and State authorities failed to ensure democratic life and a democratic press undisturbed bv anti-democratic influences the High Commissioners would take appropriate measures under the occupation Statute.
The memorandum on (ho measures agreed by Britain, the United States and France on the programme for Germany lays down that the occupation authorities reserve the right to resume and exercise full authority if they consider it essential to security to preserve a democratic Government or in pursuance of the international obligations of their governments.
