WIVES OF CHINESE TO APPEAL TO PRESIDENT OF U.N.
(11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 5. Australian wives of about 50 Chinese who are threatened with deportation decided today to draw up a petition to be forwarded to Dr. H. V. Evatt in his capacity as president of the United Nations General Assembly asking for his px-otection and intervention in having the deportation orders against their husbands withdrawn.
This means they arc appealing to Dr. Evatt direct and going over the head of the Minister of Immigration, Mr. A. A. Calwell.
Legal advisers will examine the petition before it is forwarded to Dr. Evatt.
The women intend sending a copy to every member of the United Nations who signed the declaration of human rights.
