BROWN CUP PLAY BY GISBORNE PARK GOLFERS
Keen interest was evident in play in the -Brown Cup and Brown Cup flight competitions on Saturday at the Gisborne Park golf course. The greens and fairways were in good condition. Results:—
Brown Cup (handicap).—M. Taylor d. W. Watts. 3 and 1; F. Adcroft d. G. Taylor, 5 and 4; J. Adeane d. J. Greig, 3 and 2- G. Odams d. R. Croskery, 5 and 4; R. Machines d. L. B. Shaw, 1 up; T. W. Bayliss d. M. C. Gregory 3 and 1; G. Richardson d. K. Blane, A. Tarr d. F. C. Jones, 3 and 1.
Brown Cup flight (handicap).-—J„ Gardner w.o. B. Hankey; G. Maunder d. L. Martin; E. Bayliss a. D. R. Watt; B„ Lopdeil w.o. J. D. Watt; D. Bell d. & H. Mackay; L. Gavin d. T. Tangney; D. Hamilton d. A. Gee; R. T. Ward d. B. Snelling. A Stableford bogey match run in conjunction was won by the veteran, T. W. Bayliss with 36 points on a count-back from L. Maclnnes, 36 points. The scores were: Bayliss, 80-13-67; L. Maclnnes, 75-5-68. Eric Bayliss won in the B section with 31 points. Leith Maclnnes who was playing good golf, with 75, was only five over the par score of the course.. He should be prominent in future championships. During the week-end a four-ball bogey competition was won by~L. Roderick and J. Greig, 4 up, on a countback from R. Muir and F. Duckworth, 4 up. Miss Johnstone and E. M. Hobin defeated Miss Palmer and R. Brown in the Lunkin foursomes. A Dryland Cup four-ball match was won by L. Maclnnes and L. B. Shaw from the previous holders, P. Dow and D. Bell.
