OPEN TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINALS ON AWAPUNI LINKS

MEN’S GOLF

The feature of the P.B. Golf Club’s open _ tournament play on Saturday morning, when the semi-final rounds of all competitions were disposed of, was the tussle between J. T. Dodgshun, eventual winner of the 1949 open title, and R. I. Harrison. This match went to the eighteenth, and Dodgshun took the last hole to win. In the other semi-final of the championship section G. M. Stewart disposed of J. H. Mansfield by a comfortable margin, long and accurate driving being characteristic of his game.

Detailed results of Saturday morning s play were:—

Open Championship.—J. T. Dodgshun defeated R. I. Harrison 1 up; G. H. Stewart defeated J. H. Mansfield, 5 and 4.

Miller Cup Handicap.—Semi-final: F. T. Swindell (7) defeated R. HayMacKenzie (scr.); S. Randell (8) 'dei feated A. Barns-Graham (5), 3 and 1. Gisborne Handicap.—R. Smaill (9) defeated M. J.
