CANADA’S PROPOSALS TO U.S. FOR DEFENCE
OTTAWA, Aug. 12. Canada has proposed to the United States that she be allowcod to make anti-submarine vessels, aircraft, smallarms ammunition and other equipment for the United States and receive American military weapons in return. Informed quarters said today that one of the purposes of the exchange scheme would be to prevent a further strain upon Canada’s reserves of United States dollars and to bolster her defence industry.
