The North Island final of the Chatham Cud Association football competition will be replayed at Wellington next Saturday as a result of the drawn game between Eden (Auckland), the finalist, and Petone Settlers (Wellington) at Blandford Park on Saturday. As previously arranged, two spells of 10 minutes each way were then olaved Despite many strenuous attacks, neither team could score in this time, and a soell of five minutes with the first goal or corner ,to count was then ordered. This also did not produce a result and three more spells of five minutes each were played before the referee. Mr. F. O. Green, declared the match a draw because of the failing light. Altogether, there were two hours 10 minutes of actual play. The chairman of the New Zealand Football Council. Mr. T. M. Dick, Wellington, was among the officials who went on to the field after the fourth five-minute spell to discuss,., with the referee the advisability of playing on and the two teams both held conferences before Mr. Green gave his decision. The council had previously instructed that the match was to be plaved to a finish.
There were many protests from the spectators at the length of the game and the players of both teams were ‘done” at the end of the titanic struggle. Eden’s centre-forward. Brewer, scored both goals for his team, while Gale, outside left, and Jakens, left half, scored for Petone.
