Whakawliititira Visits Wairongomai. Children of the Whakawhititira Maori School, accompanied by Mr. Prosser, recently spent a most enjoyable afternoon at the Wairongomai School.

A large number of parents were also present and all visitors were welcomed with Maori hakas and action songs. A delicious afternoon tea was provided by (he parents of the local children.

Three basketball and two football matches were played, the honours being even over all. Results: Basketball.—Senior: Whakawhititira A d. Wairongomai A. 12-7. Junior: Whakawhititira B d. Wairongomai B, 4-0. Senior: Wairongomai (rep.) d. Whakawhititira A, 3-0. Football. —Senior: Wairongomai 3 (try by M. Aupouri) v. Whakawhititira 3 (field goal bv M. Collier. Junior: Wairongomai 6 d. Whakawhititira 0 (scorers: P. Tuheke and M. Smith).

Card Evening. Another very successful card evening was held in the Gaiety Theatre supper room on Wednesday in aid of the Church of England building fund. The hostesses were Mrs. R. Kemp and Miss D. Kemp. Prizes were won by Miss S. Smith and Mr. T. Awatere. School Dance.

A very successful dance was held recently in the Uepohatu Memorial Hall in a final effort to raise funds for the High School children's tour of Gisborne. Special thanks were given bv Mr. Martin, headmaster of the Manutahi D.H.S.. to Mr. Williamson, to the school committee, and especially Mr. Tucker, to Mr. Goodman, and to all parents and children of all schools contributing to the High School. “It is very gratifying to find parents and friends so staunchly behind the school.” he concluded. Euchre Party at Hiruliarama. A euchre party was held at Hiruharama on Wednesday evening to raise funds towards the visit of three teams from Cape Runaway, who will be playing the Hikurangi Basketball. Hockey and Football Club on Saturday. A dance will be held this evening.

Personal. Mr. S. Goldsmith, chairman of the Ruatoria Hockey Sub-Association, received a knee injury in last Saturday’s cup match and is confined to bed. —The Rev. J. Kingsley Fairbairn was a guest last week-end of Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Mai—The Rev. F. H. Robertson. Hastings, and the Rev K. T Cameron. Malawhero. were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. O. Johnston. — Mr. Wells, Patutahi, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ward. —Mr. Robinson, Gisborne, was the guest of Mr and Mrs. C. Tucker.
