New Speedboat Record Claimed

(10 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 12. Donald Campbell, the son of the late Sir Malcolm Campbell, today claimed he exceeded 140 miles an hour on Coniston Water.

It is believed he unofficially broke the world’s water speed record of .141.74 miles an hour set up by Iris father 10 years ago. He will make an official attempt on the record next Monday.
