STRIKE CALLED IN BRITISH COALFIELDS

(11 am.) LONDON. Aug. 12. The leaders of 1580 key workers in Britain's nationalised coalfields rejected today the Laobur Ministry’s arbitration offer and called a strike for next Friday which will cause an estimaed 70 per cent cut in Britain's coal output. The workers concerned are members of the Colliery Winders’ Federation. Among other things they are demanding higher wages.
