Hockey Dance A most successful reverse dance was held by the Kawakawa Hockey Club in the Gaiety Hall. The music was supplied by H. Puha, while Mr. N. A. Brown as M.C. kept the proceedings moving. A delightful supper was served by the hockey ladies. Items of interest were supplied by Miss D. Tuhara, Te Puia, Messrs. B. Stirling, Raukokore, and M. Stirling. A group, comprising Misses V. Mill, R. Kaa, R, Brown, K. McLean and Mr. H. Apanui proved to be very popular with their songs. The main prize-winners were those adjudged by Messrs. F. G. Ryan and N. T. Lovegrove to be the best costumed according to the title of the dance. Mrs. W. L. S. Britton, as a cowboy in gay dress, was first, and Mrs S. Farr as a bewhiskered old man was second of the “Gents’ ” section, while Mr. T. Rangihuna, a most becoming “lady,” won the “Ladies’ ” group, with Mr. M. Stirling second. Others dressed to suit the occasion included A. Hoerera, T. Perston, L. Rangihuna. J. Herewini. K. McLean, S. I-luriwai, S. Kemp. E. Barbara, and W. Clarke, all of whom portrayed their parts admirably. At the conclusion of the dance Mr. S. Farr, on behalf of the president of the club, Mr. W. Clarke, thanked all those present for their support and many absentees who together had helped to make the club's season a successful one. Teachers Meet

There was a good attendance of Coast teachers from as far afield as Raukokore and Te Puia when the Waiapu branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute held its meeting at the Te Araroa Maori D.H.S. on Saturday. A welcome to the branch was extended to Mr. and Mrs. H. Burt. Runtoria. Mr. Prosser, with his wife and young son, have settled down at Whakawhitira after making the journey from England towards the end of last year. Mr. Prosser who hails from Bristol, addressed the meeting on teaching conditions in the Mother Country and his audience found much of interest when comparisons were made. The meeting was in the hands of the branch president, Mr. K. Henderson, Wai-o-matatini. Sporting Visit Ruatoria footballers and basketball players belonging to the Wanderers and tertained to luncheon and tea in the tertainedy to luncheon and tea in the local hall when they visited Hicks Bay recently. During the afternoon a loud speaker was used to give a running commentary on the football and Mr. C. Tucker, the announcer, added considerable interest to the proceedings. There was a successful dance held to wind up the day.
