REPLY TO CORRESPONDENT

R T. Kohere: Letter declined. Ed. POST OFFICE Sir. —In Past years the Post Office gave excellent, service to the public. What has happened to the local office? Long queuej; at counters and long delays. Is it nobody’s job to have a look round and see that the public is getting a fair service? During the last three or four years the attention to the public at the local office has been steadily deteriorating. ‘ We got a much better service during the war years. One hears bitter criticism all over Ihe town at the long delays at the Post Office counters. If the Junior - Chamber of Commerce wants to do some good, let it form a “postal committee- ’ and insist that the public gets better service. Now Junior Chamber, see what vou can do and “holler till you get it.’’ SERVICE.” The chief postmaster at Gisborne, Mr. D. J. Foley, states that the surges of traffic are watched by the senior officers at the Post Office and extra tellers are put on as soon as a queue builds up. It -is difficult, he adds to anticipate the traffic. —Ed.
