INDOOR BASKETBALL COMPETITIONS IN LOWER GRADES

In the women's B grade section of the Gisborne Indoor Basketball Association's competitions held on Tuesday evening Nurses registered a comfortable win over M I.A. Mis.-es Lincoln, Wells and Clark contributed most of the coin's for Nurses and Miss Wilson most of the M.I.A. score. Shamrocks had a rather easy win over Kiwis. For the winners Misses P. Aylward and J. Colbert gave improved showings and Miss B. Whaitiri did best for the losers. Tatt’s and Bayleys were too experienced for G.B.A. who kept the former’s score much below what it might have been. For the winners Mesdames Douglas and B. Barber played well and for G.B.A. Misses L. Lowe and K. Te Hau were prominent. • - Herald were too accurate at the basket for Red Star, but the game was more evenly fought than the scores indicate. Misses M. Quinn and E. Quinn played well for the Herald and Miss N. Dewes scored the 10 points recorded by the losers. In the women’s C grade Glendowie had a meritorious vicishry over Squibs. Prominent for the winners were Misses T. Thomas and C. Tucker and for Squibs Misses S. Hope and W. Owen. Results: Women. B Grade. —Herald 29 v. Red Star 10: Tatt’s Bayly 16 v. G.B.A. 7: Shamrocks 17 v. Kiwis 6; Nurses 34 v. M.I.A. 21. Women’s C Grade. —Scotties 29 v. Petties 26: Hibernians 21 v. Gisgar 6; Glendowie 24 v. Squibs 20. Men’s B Grade. —L.D.S. 8 v. Farmers 3: Old Boys 16 v. Kingfishers 8; Greyhounds 32 v. Smashers 2.
