LEVY ON RABBIT SKINS DOUBLED FOR 12 MONTHS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 8. The rate of levy on rabbit skins produced and sold in New Zealand will be raised from 10 per cent to 20 per cent for 12 months commencing June 1, 1949, slated the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. E. L. Cullen The increase has been fixed on the recommendation of the Rabbit destruction Council in view of the fact that the levy is payable only at the time of auction or on direct sale to the wholesale trader.

Buyers are being given due notice of the increase, continued the Minister. The levy is payable in respect of the full market value of the skins and the new rate will apply up to and including May 31. 1950.
