U.S. FORCES DISPLAY STRENGTH IN ARMY DAY PARADE

(10 a.m.) LONDON, April 6. To celebrate Army Day, the United States forces in Germany today staged their greatest display of armed strength that the Germans have seen since the war ended, says the Associated Press correspondent in Grafenwoehr. Today’s parade was in 'marked contrast to the observance last year when no attempt was made to show tha United States military strength in Europe. The United States military commander in Germany, General Lucius Clay, addressing the parade, said that American troops in Germany would prevent by force, if necessary, any aggression against Western Europe. “America’s entrance into the Atlantic Pact commits her to help to maintain peace,” he said. You men are the symbol of our country’s firm will to fight for the rights of free men.”
