INSTRUMENT FUND FOR PLAYERS OF HOME GUARD BAND

Faced with the necessity of renewing the present stock of instruments and also extending the equipment so that a greater number of players can be catered for, the executive of the Gisborne Home Guard Band has undertaken the organisation of a comprehensive effort which will have, as its chief feature, an exhibition to be Held during August in the Army Hall. The exhibition, which will continue for several days and will have associated features of general interest for the evening sessions, will include souvenirs of war service, specimens of art, tapestry, primitive weapons, period fashions and furniture, fine needlework, Maori art and craft examples, school’ students’ work, and mementoes and curios of various kinds.

It is believed that the homes of Gisborne contain sufficient material of these various types to provide an outstanding display, and the executive of the band is anxious to obtain the cooperation of residents who will be willing to place their family treasures on loan for this purpose. Items entrusted to the executive will be fully covered by insurance against loss, and will be guarded both from interference by patrons of the exhibition and from loss or damage in handling.
