Nanking Jittery Over Red Troop Moves
(11.30 a.m.) NANKING, Mar. 9.
Reports of renewed large-scale Communist military activity caused panicky conditions in the financial and share markets.
Yicheng, 30 miles east of Nanking on the north bank of the Yangtse, is still in the Nationalists’ hands today.
Last night 3000 Communists, supported by artillery, attacked the city but this morning had been repulsed, leaving behind 400 dead and wounded.
